Following the finals held virtually earlier in this summer, the Institution’s Challenges will reopen for registrations for teams on 1 October 2020.

Taking place each year, the Institution’s Design Challenge, Railway Challenge and UAS Challenge lay down the gauntlet for teams of university students and apprentices to take up an engineering project that they will design and develop throughout the year, with each Challenge culminating in a Final.

The Challenges continue to grow in popularity: dozens of teams from across the UK are joined by those from overseas, with countries including India, Germany, Poland, The Netherlands, Pakistan and Denmark regularly participating.

No matter which Challenge they are involved in, young engineers are given the opportunity to develop their engineering knowledge, soft skills and practical abilities with a real-world project that complements their area of study. As a result, competitors graduate with direct experience of working in a team on an engineering project, making them highly desirable by industry.

If you haven’t had the chance to take part or are looking forward to getting involved once more, be sure to download the rules for this year’s Challenges and enter your team before registration closes on 15 November 2020.
